Saree Care Guide

Preserving the longevity and luster of your handcrafted heirlooms.

Silk Saree Care

Pure Silks & Kanjeevarams

  • Dry Clean Only: Always entrust your pure silks to a professional dry cleaner. Never hand-wash or machine-wash them at home.
  • Airing Out: After wearing, hang the saree in a shaded, well-ventilated area for a few hours before storing it. This allows the fabric to breathe and removes trapped moisture.
  • Ironing: Always iron on a low-heat setting. Place a thin cotton cloth over the saree to prevent direct heat contact with the silk and zari.
  • Storage: Wrap your silk sarees in pure cotton or muslin cloth. Avoid storing them in plastic bags, as silk needs to breathe. Keep them in a cool, dark closet away from direct sunlight.
Organza Saree Care

Delicate Organza & Tissue

  • Gentle Handling: Organza is extremely sheer and prone to tearing if snagged. Be mindful of jewelry and sharp objects when draping.
  • Washing: Dry cleaning is strictly recommended to maintain the crisp texture and sheen of the fabric.
  • Folding: Avoid hanging organza sarees, as they may lose their shape. Instead, fold them gently and store them flat. Refold them every few months to prevent permanent creasing at the fold lines.

Preserving Zari (Gold/Silver Threads)

Real zari contains actual silver or gold threads that can oxidize and turn black if exposed to moisture, perfumes, or harsh chemicals. Never spray perfume directly on your saree. To preserve the shine of the zari, ensure it is wrapped securely in a cotton cloth and kept in a dry environment. You may place silica gel packets in your wardrobe to absorb excess moisture during the monsoon season.
